Miss Rodeo Airdrie 2013 Farewell

As I reflect on my year as Miss Rodeo Airdrie 2013 and the start of the 2014 Airdrie Pro Rodeo, it is a bitter sweet feeling. I have had such an amazing year representing the Airdrie Rodeo and Ranch Association, Airdrie Pro Rodeo and the City of Airdrie. All I have to say is THANK-YOU for the amazing opportunity to represent such an amazing committee of people, as well as an incredible city!

A HUGE THANK-YOU goes out to all of my amazing sponsors who have helped me, get down the road looking amazing and making sure I get to where I am going. The year as Miss Rodeo Airdrie would not have been the same without every one of you! I had the opportunity to attend over 100 events in Canada and the United States representing the sport that I love and a city that opened its arms to me. I was able to travel to Omak Washington, Coeur D’Alene Idaho, Binghamton New York, Denver Colorado to the WESA Market with Jim Nevada and the Staff of Roper, Stetson, Tin Haul.  As well as so many amazing community events and CPRA Rodeos.

A HUGE Thank-you to my parents, who have supported my dreams always, been there for me when I needed them most, gotten up at the crack of dawn to help me bring in my horse, help  me load my truck, get ready to go or just were up to say have a great time! Without them I would not have made it down the road. I can’t even put into words how truly grateful I am for all of your support. Of course a huge thank- you to all of my family whether you opened your house to me so I could get ready or so I had a place to sleep, you are all amazing and I appreciate all of your help and support.

A huge thank-you to Leanne Grenier the Airdrie Rodeo Royalty Director for all you have done for me this year and for all of the hard work and huge piece of your heart that you have put into the Airdrie Rodeo Royalty Program without you the program would not be the same.

Thank you to Rob and Haley Brietzke for opening your house to me when I needed somewhere to stay. Also thank you to everyone who offered me a place to stay during the crazy times of year. I am grateful for all you have done for me!
I have had such an amazing and unforgettable experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life. It feels like just yesterday they called my name and gave me the opportunity to represent the Airdrie Pro Rodeo on my “Ride of a Lifetime.”

To the 2014 Airdrie Rodeo Royalty: This year will be a year to remember. Enjoy every second of it as it goes by so quickly. It’s a rewarding experience that you will cherish forever, you will see so much growth in yourself and each other. I wish you safe travels and all the best throughout your journeys.

Last but certainly not least, THANK-YOU to the residents of Airdrie. You are an incredible community and it has been an honor to have been given the opportunity to represent you for the last year, Airdrie will always hold a special place in my heart. I am really looking forward to representing the Airdrie Pro Rodeo and the City of Airdrie at the Miss Rodeo Canada Pageant in November.
Happy Trails!!

Ride of a Lifetime

Wow I cannot believe I am sitting here reflecting on 2013, its crazy how fast time seems to go by when you are on the ride of a lifetime! My experiences over the last 6 months of this journey have been nothing less than INCREDIBLE!!! I have met so many amazing people and attended some amazing events!!

I kicked of my year with Stampede 101, The Ranchman's PBR Bull Busting, Pancake Breakfasts, Calgary Stampede 101 Parade, Visiting Royalty Day, I had a blast at all the stampede events met so many amazing people and Come Hell or High Water the Show went on in true Stampede Fashion!
After Stampede I ended July at  the Medicine Hat Stampede and Exhibition. The Committee there treated us like true Royalty, helped settle our horses into their stalls, took us for a home cooked meal, we got to meet Gretchen Wilson, participate in Grande Entry and the Parade!!! It was a fantastic Rodeo with some amazing people!!!

We started off August with a trip to Omak, Washington, for the Omak Stampede and World Famous Suicide Race! It was an amazing experience, we were welcomed their with open arms, there were 7 Canadian girls there as visiting royalty with 41 American girls, including Miss Rodeo Canada 2013 Gillian Shields and Miss Rodeo Washington Jessie Tenant!! The suicide race sent a rush of adrenaline through my veins just watching 20 horses run straight down a very steep cliff into the canal swim across and run up into the arena first one in wins! To be apart of a Grande Entry of 48 Visiting Royalty was amazing!

We came home to a couple of Rodeos in my home Arena in Airdrie, The Calgary Police Rodeo which was something I had never seen and I thought was awesome, as well as Bikes and Bulls which was also very different with the Bike Rodeo but very entertaining!

As we moved into fall I had the opportunity to attend a few more rodeos, The Cochrane Lions Rodeo, Okotoks Pro Rodeo, Canadian Senior Pro Rodeo Finals in Claresholm. I also attended the Terry Fox Run, Art of the Harvest , Canadian Cowboy Challenge Finals and celebrated Halloween at Bass Pro.

November brought us to CFR 40!!! Going up to Edmonton to watch Nicole Briggs in the Miss Rodeo Canada 2014 competition. I got to watch the Public Speaking, Horsemanship and Fashion Show portion of the Competition. At the Ladies Fashion Show I  got to help sell boas for the game that took place throughout. Watching 3 performances of the CFR in including the Crowning of Miss Rodeo Canada 2014 Nicole Briggs was very exciting!

December brought us to Santa Clause Parades and Pictures with Santa Clause to kick off the festive Holiday Season! I took part in the High River Santa Clause Parade at a chilly -42 there were still a fair few cheerful people out to bring in the holidays. I also took part in the Airdrie Parade which at a -30 brought out a lot of people in the community to bring Santa to town!!!

So as I reflect on 2013 and all the many adventures I got to take part in, all of the amazing people I have gotten to meet along the way! I am sad to see such a fantastic year come to an end but I am very excited for what lies ahead for me in 2014 and many more adventures to come on this Ride Of A Lifetime!!!!
